Default Odd kill spring position

Found this on our wolf from last week.
Odd that the trigger would have jumped the spring position and grabbed the ferrel and not deployed.
Anyone find this on occasions ? I may round my ferrel edges.
Oh well, he was dead dead.

Yes I had the same happen on 9 coyotes and a fox this season. All dead but rendered the spring ineffective.

Turning your ferrel around the other way should fix the problem. I have my triggers backing on the ferrel with the trigger pointed towards the cam lock. It's the last component that I put on before putting the ferrel on.

Default me too!

i had that happen a few times as well.
the next snares that i built after that i decided i would attatch the trigger lastly on the loop just before the ferrel. (obviously the trigger has to face the opposite direction). this kinda goes against what marty tells us to do but, theres more than one way to skin a Cat...
the only issue that i have found is that when you do snare a critter and there is tension on the lock and the spring the trigger is kinda in the way of cutting the snare easily (i would otherwise cut the snare in between the spring arms).
I guess the other way of getting around it is to use a washer to prevent the trigger from jumping onto the ferrel....

Default kill spring position

Is that the end of your snare? Are the triggers not be set in the opposite direction? backing up against the stop and latching on the inside? all the ones I have ever bought or built there after have been in the opposite direction of the picture you have shared if that is your end stop. The pressure of the snare being pulled through the spring releases the trigger?

This was cut off short, but ya it loops back thru the lock with BAD against the spring, not shown.
It took a good tug to push the spring over the ferrel.

Flip the trigger around and set on the side of the spring. I found that works well

Trigger is backwards, and you are also missing washers on either side of the spring.
