I had a bad experience with a Nikon camera, and will likely not buy another. That said, my household has a couple Nikon binoculars and we have no complaints. I wouldn't hesitate to use one of their scopes.
Just a question, have you tried lapping you're scope rings? Quite often what looks like problems with a rifle or optics can be caused by misaligned scope rings putting stress on the scope. A symptom of this can sometimes be that the rifle will shoot differently if the torque on the ring-cap screws is changed.
Another way of checking this out is to remove the scope, color the inside of the rings, then mount a piece of 1" cold roll in the rings and turn it. Inspect where the coloring has been smeared and this will tell you if and how you're rings are misaligned.
