Default Black bear hunting near Edmonton

New hunter here, going in with a cross bow, think I have most of the basics for gear. Besides a atv. I’ve tried in the 336 area so far and out near Hinton no real luck. Anyone have any luck anywhere around the Edmonton area or even Hinton area?

As well as if anyone wants a partner I’m my own contractor so I can sneak off any time mostly for day trips/weekends or even during the week

I’d head north instead of west.

Yeah you're not going to have too much luck hunting bear in 336, there are a few around but not very many, and it's mostly private land.

Got mine near Whitecourt. Saw lots of them!

New to hunting, or new to crossbow?

What is your approach? Are you baiting? Road Hunting? Stalking?

Try Whitecourt or Edson, tons everywhere right now, way too many. Last 5 trips in that area (WMU 346, 348, 349) I've seen 32 bears and nothing else, some of these wmu's especially whitecourt swan hills are becoming overrun with them

I've got family who live on the outskirts of hinton. Theres so many bears there that their not letting their kids take their bikes out for a ride.

Definitely hit up the whitecourt/swan hills area.
They’re not baiting zones, but bears are everywhere. Cruise the oilfield roads close to dark and you’ll see them all over pipelines.

Thanks for all the comments here. Might make an effort to fill my bear tag now.
