Default Window mounts for spotting scopes

I've tried a few and never found one I really liked. What do you use and why do you like it? I would like to find something that adjusts smoothly and has very little play in it like some of the high quality tripods, only in a window mount.

Chet, I bought a Vanguard mount for Mrs. Big Bull at Christmas time. It seems
like a good compromise of quality vs. price.

That looks like a dandy Big Bull. Where did you get it from?

You get yourself a Bogen 3130G head and a bogan 3292 adapter.
There are cheaper heads by bogen also, like the JR models.

Thats what I have, and its SOLID! "And I've tried most all of the cheap ones"Been using it for years, its the same as the one on my tripod "the head that is" Instead of always changing the shoes I just went and bought another 3130G. on for the tripod and one for my window mount.
If you go this way you'll be very happy!

Go here and scroll to the bottom, your setup will look kind of like this. The 3130G "G is for green"

I actually bought it here in Jasper, so you should be able to get one just about anywhere! I bought it from Jasper Camera and Gifts, a Foto Source outlet.

Just me, or are they damn pricey, for what you get?

You may be able to get the window mount part cheap if you keep an eye on this.

Grizz, I guess it just all depends. If you want a rock solid no plastic mount you go the Bogen route I guess. I just got tired of the herky jerkey cheap window mounts that you find in most sporting goods stores.
Its funny you can tell who my hunting buddies are just by looking at thier mounts "they all use my system now".
Good luck!

I like the old metal Bushnell mount. As for herky jerky, the truck moves more than the mount.

Wholesale sells an nice little unit made by vangaurd. Includes the window mount unit and a small table top tripod that it will mount to. Build an additional mount by welding a 2"x2" piece of steel to a 6 or 9" lag bolt that can be screwed into a tree or fence post. Stable mount virtually anywhere!

Sorry, I don't own a spotting scope.

I do use a window mount for my camera, or more appropriately, I used to use it.

I don't remember the brand or where I bought the mount, but I find mine to be awkward, and hard to use (setup). Besides I can get better shots free hand then with the mount. The mount picks up vehicular movement, vibration from the motor, if it's running, and/or wind or even my body moving. Not sure if that correlates to spotting scope use.

Default Manfrotto

here is the website of the one i use.

I use the heavy duty grip ball head and then you just get the window mount that screws on the bottom to clamp on the glass. It is expensive but rock solid and will last forever.

I bought a swaro window mount. It's much better than the bushnell model I used to have. It was $80.

Default The ultimate scope mount

Although I haven't found one yet, I would think the one that ties the dogs up and the kids so they don't shake the truck all around when your trying to spot would be the best. Maybe it could also inject them with a mild sedative too, that might be the delux model.

They were definately the best by far, the old grey one I'm assuming you are referring to? Hard to find one though, and the newer ones are crap.

Better check out the previously mentioned Manfrotto's Chet. While I dont have one YET, I have spent alot of time running one and they are without question producing top shelf stuff. The website is abit confusing, but believe me, you can match up about anything to concoct some amazing equipment.

Think I have the same one you do. Mount a camera there video camera or what ever. Cept I mount the spotting scope backwards on the mount for that dang handle don't hit my chin. Mine has been not well looked after and rolls around in my quad box, so they will take a beating and keep on ticking. hehe
