Default Fishing Buddy 2 problems !!!

I have a fishing buddy 2 that I have been using for ice fishing and some limited fishing with the canoe. I have had the same problem twice now.
This has only happened after I have gone ice fishing. I loose the the visual screen. It still powers up but I can not see anything. I did send it away to be fixed and they send back a different one that they have fixed. The cost is almost more than half of what I paid.
Does anyone else use this sidefinder fishfinder? I know it is not the best quality but I like the ability of the side finder. Any way to fix them cheaper than $145 in or around Calgary. The last time I had to send it to Vancouver and the same thing happened again 2 years later.
Any info would be helpful.

I have one, and don't really like it. I didn't like having to pull it out of the water every time that I change locations. I'll sell you mine for $100!
