Kananaskis Area Snow Reports?
I was just wondering if anyone has been out to Spray, or the Upper / Lower Kananaskis Lakes in the past week or so, and could report on how much snow is on the ice?
Thanks,
Scott

Fished Lower K on 7 March lake itself is just a foot of snow about 24" ice. But snowbanks on the roadside is waist deep.

My buddy and I tried the lower lake on Saturday east end - never even marked a fish on my flasher, let alone catch one. Beautiful day out at least.

How much water came out of the holes due to the snow pressure? Might head there this weekend.

None on Saturday. There was about 4" of ice, then a layer of about 2" of water, then another good 18" of ice or so I'd guess.
EDIT: We were fishing at the east end of the lake near where the boat launch is.

Ray, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of depth are you fishing at?

How high do you run your flasher from your lure? If you don't mind passing on a tip. Or do you mean an electronic flasher?

Flasher as in the electronic fish finder. the bulls seemed to only hit when following the gig as we raised it.

Anyone been out there this week? We were there on Saturday and Sunday. Some water under the snow but it was still fishable comfortably. I wanna go back tomorrow but not if the water is to bad is why im asking. I also cant find anyone to go with me so we will see. We caught 3 bulls and a really nice cutty. Caught 2 of the bulls and the cutty in about 1 1/2 hours once we found the spot.

I generally fish shallow prairie lakes and ponds, so excuse my ignorance, but at 80 feet, do the fish live after releasing them?

Yessir. even at 70-90 feet lots of the fish are half way up. We were fishing in about 60' and catching them sometimes 30-40 feet from the bottom. As long as you don't horse them up they are fine even from the bottom.
