Pontoon Float Bow River Saturday April 27
Since the weather is looking absolutely awesome, planning to float in my pontoon from glenmore onwards either to fishcreek or policemans (depending how early we drop in) with stops along the way.
anyone care to join?

Normally I don't use my anchor on the river. When I catcha fish I keep floating. Normally the fish will swim down current with you. It's hard to do much else when you have a rod in one hand while trying to keep the line tight without losing the fish.

Windy. Was a stuggle to even float DOWNSTREAM. Broken rod tip halfway in. And no backup. One fat rainbow to the net. Almost attacked by a nested Canada goose protecting its eggs. Good day

I was stuck in that wind too in a pontoon.. from 2-4pm I pretty much paddled straight to fish creek (the original plan was to float to policemans but with that wind it would have been another 3-4 hours of rowing). If I stopped paddling for even a second I either did circles or went backwards lol. My forearms are sore today, my face is wind burnt, and caught no fish :P BUT it was fun to be out on the water finally!!!!

That was Drock and I at the fish creek boat launch that pulled in the same time as you Fishergrrrl.
As Drock said, it was super windy. I also busted the tip off my rod, however it was nice to get out on the water. Anybody want to sell a 9' 4-piece 6wt fly rod? LOL

Indeed it was a 5-piece after all was said and done hahaha. Yeah we were in the pontoons. If you're travelling from edmonton you have to make it worth while regardless of the weather, did you catch anything?
I ended up buying a brand new fly outfit, Orvis clearwater 5wt and Sage !800 reel rigged with rio gold line! Used it a Severn Rez today and love it!
