With some old-age bone loss, and dental implants right where I plant my cheek on the rifle stock - the gentle recoil of a 6.5 Creedmore keeps me in the game.

Last I heard, most of the backlash is from all those that shoot a 308, and they don’t have the b???s to say they are out gunned by the 6.5 CM.

Default I'm no big game hunter, but...

...how many 100's of thousands of North American big game animals have been harvested with a 30-06 or a .270?

Sincerely (from a guy who fusses over upland game loads).

I owned a 6.5CM, and I also owned a 260rem, a 6.5x47, a couple of 6.5x55s, and now own a 6.5prc. The 6.5CM wasn't any more accurate than the others , and did nothing that the others didn't do. The 6.5CM is the product of good marketing, it isn't anything magic as some people make it out to be.

What debate . Hunt with what you like and don’t worry about what others use.

Everyone is entitled to their own preferences. I like a 308. It’s boring I know . It doesn’t have the sex appeal of the latest greatest creedmore or magnum boomer but it knocks em down just fine for my purposes .

It seems that some need all others to do as they do in order to feel validated in their choice of calibre or brand or whatever it is they are doing. Life would be pretty boring if we all blindly followed the latest trend like lemmings over the edge .

Being proficient with your choice is much more important than going with the flavour of the month.

The most interesting thing I have found since the 6.5Creedmoor came out, is that NONE of the people I have ever met use that cartridge for what it was designed for!

Which proves just how good the marketing of this cartridge was.

Hmm. That is all I use mine for. A long distance range toy.

I was finally hitting steel at 1400 m with some consistency on the weekend.

I warm up at 1000m.

I only have about 800 rounds down it since I put it together in April, so it is still new, and just broken in.

It wasn't designed for that , it was designed to fit a 140 grain bullet into a short action magazine rifle like the Tubb2000 for National course Also known as
" across the course" matches which are shot at a max distance if 600 yards.
This is shot prone, kneeling and Standing.
There are a few matches that go out to 1,000 prone like the Wimbelton, but the min focus was National course.

After buildung, hunting and competing with ipwards to ten dufferent .264 cartridges over the years, ypu will find they do nothing more than many 257's or 284's in the same case capacity .
They are however lots of fun.
The key is to find one in an action and stock profile you like.

My Steyr prohunter in 6.5x55 might be the last rifle I'll ever sell

I was wanting to get one but with the thinning hair on the top of my head I'd have a hard time pulling off the man bun.

I guess if I had to I could still put one on the sides of my head. Kinda like princess Leia.

Who knows maybe I'd be starting a new style that'll be popular with the hipsters??
