Default Savages turned pretty?

Hey all,

I recently decided that I wanted to get a couple boyds stocks for my savage 114 300 win mag and 111 7mm rem mag. The 114 did have a walnut stock but I fell on some rocks while hunting and pretty much broke the stock in two almost. The 111 had the cheap plastic stock so I just wanted to give it an upgrade. I've always liked the wood or laminate look over the plastic/synthetic look as well as the feel. Both rifles slipped right into both stocks with ease and without purchasing any extra parts. They are a perfect fit and now it feels like owning two new rifles. I think it was a nice little upgrade and they look great!

You screwed up the install and put the bolt handles on the wrong side.

They look great!

Looks great. I just ordered mine for my Bmag, can't wait to ditch the silly synthetic garbage.

A lot of people may not like savages but the rifles do everything I need them to do in the hunting situations that I have encountered. I definitely don't have no issues filling up my freezer with them. These two rifles have out preformed my buddies tikkas, Brownings and Remington's. Some people like them some don't.

Those look good and I see the bolt is on the proper side What kind of stocks are those Boyds or something else? I have a Savage 260 Rem that is a real shooter as well.

Smile Savage upgrades

I will be doing 2 savage here in the next month or so. Sisters 7-08 and bros 243. Hoping for an easy slide in and bolt up with the new Boyd's stocks.

I honestly don't understand it either, I think they look pretty good too. Besides they typically out shoot guns that are thought by some to be prettier.

Very nice, how much were the stocks? Were they easy to get shipped? Have you done a before and after group comparison?

For the two stocks it cost $214 plus $60 for shipping I think. I got the laser stippling done on them which was another $100, so say about $375 for both, your orders can't be any more than $500. It took 30 days from the order date to have them in my hands. Both bolted right in with out purchasing any other parts. I didn't notice any difference shooting them other than I like the feel better, the raised cheek peice made it way better I think. I'm very happy with them!

They look good. What do you think of the laser stippling?

I love it! It's just something different than checkering. It kinda reminds me of the checkering/stippling on a t3 hunter stock.

The model that I have for both rifles is the prairie hunter. I like the rasied cheek rest!

That's exactly what I do, I have no issues with my savages and would not hesitate on buying another.

I bought a .243 Savage with the accu trigger a few years ago and with the cheapest blue box federals I can find I still get nickel sized groups at 100yds.
I don't like the gun, but who can argue with proven holes in paper? I sure can't!!
YouTube "Dartman and the Neighbour" and they make great long range shots with Savage rifles.

I really like that green stock, that would be beautiful in my remington. Did you order them from Boyds directly? Is it heavy?

Nope I don't think that they are that heavy, the stalk itself is only 2.5lbs I think, and yes I did order it directly from boyds, ordered them online, didn't even talk to anyone, they sent a tracking number and they came exactly how I ordered them, not one complaint!
