Elk... cause they are crafty buggers and hard to hunt (in the foothills anyways).

Elk. Anyone that says anything else hasn't had a Bull bugle at them from 10 yards....or better yet 30 yards when you don't know they are there!
Plus they taste yummy, and are always tough to hunt.
Close second is a big Whitey.

Don't think it's fair to lump wolf, coyote and cats in the same category. Those hunts are not alike.
Having said that, wolf is top of the list.

Antelope, by far the tastiest animal I have put on my table.
The spot and stalk on the open landscape is a very pleasant and satisfying experience. I find it exciting and relaxing at the same time. I have been fortunate to have been drawn 4 times in my years.
Closing in on 5 with my son intow. If lucky enough to draw #5 in the next three years will be my last.
Still hunting Whitetails in the thick bush is a close second. Satisfying going one on one.
Sheep and Elk would have been tied as #1 years ago. My needs have changed.
But when is being out in the woods not fun. I have sat in a tree stand in the Canmore bow zone on a -29 celsius day and enjoyed every second.
Packed Elk quarters for 2 days in Kananaskis and quit hunting there on the spot, only to be back in the same valley opening day the following year.
Things change but also stay the same

As long as I am hunting I do not care what it is or what I am hunting it with.

That's an easy one
My favourite one animal would definitely be Moose, Grizzly, Cape Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, Crocodile, Elk, Caribou, Sheep, Leopard, Black bear, Deer, Wolves, Cats, Kudu, Sable, Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Antelope, Turkey, Jackel, Zebra, Eland, Impala, Warthog
Hmmmm.... Maybe this isn't so easy 😂 lol

Back country moose hunting during the rut.
Theres something about a wall tent camp and not seeing any sign of another group of hunters for 10-12 days. Gotta love the sound of those Bulls coming to a call.

It wasn't always so but whitetails have become my favorite. I like them because they live in places where I like to hunt, can be hunted using my favored methods, and their rut coincides with my favorite time to be in the field. For me, nothing beats wandering the big timber ridges on fresh snow from morning to nightfall, and whitetails just seem to accommodate this type of hunting the best.
Moose would be my second, because they also tend to inhabit the places I like to hunt, and they are such an ideal animal to track.

Archery moose and always whitetails in november have been my main targets lately. Would love to try for elk someday but one thing at a time. Love rattling for big bucks and trying to get better at calling moose. It's such a rush when a grunting bull walks in from no where, whether you get off a shot or not. If a grouse wants to sit long enough to eat a judo point then bonus! Shake and bake.

I voted coyotes. Cause I've been doing that since I was a kid. Such a thrill especially when you get 3-4 running right in close! I've had them come flying by within 15 ft not seeing us until the shots rang out. Now, They seem a lil call shy in my area. So I like to find a lil high ground, and try to take them at longer ranges. Still fun.
This is my first season bow hunting, but I can't wait to hit the mountains and go for Elk, Moose, Beer. Also gonna try some spot and stalk Mulie hunts this year. Who knows, might have a lil beginners luck on me.
Only regret is not getting into big game hunting when I was younger. But hey, got lotsa years of hunting ahead of me God willing.

I'd have to say waterfowl, mainly for the social aspect. Sons and some of their friends come, can take the dog, and with the young bucks there the "old man" never has to set foot in the water to set or retrieve decoys, etc. Any ducks or geese I get I give to them, so don't have to clean anything either!
By myself, I like upland just the dog and I. But I like deer and elk just as much really.

waterfowl any day of the week - I've turned down some amazing deer hunts for a shot in the dark at geese in a damp field, cold field. For me, as a kid, I grew up hunting waterfowl more than deer as it was something I could tag along and do relatively easy as a youngster with my dad. I have done the deer hunting with my dad, and on my own, but to me hunting is about family and friends and enjoying the outdoors. I can sit and talk with friends between birds, and still limit out at the end of a day whereas with deer you need to be pretty quiet.
Further to all of this, my dad died when I was 11, just before my 12th birthday when I could start carrying a gun and shooting birds with him so I have that connection with my old man when I'm out there on the shore of a duck pond or sitting in a farmers field. September 1st cannot come fast enough.
I took my love for the sport one step further and have a 7 month old lab that will be ready to go this fall to hunt.

Moose for me, ever since I was a youngster and dad called to a bull and he answered back, the hair on my neck stood up, the adrenaline rose and wow, I was hooked. To this day calling to a grunting bull is a rush.
Now after my Outside of the Suffield base hunt, I will say I want to pursue Elk more and in their rut if possible. That south county hunt was just too much fun for this bush hunter, learning how a herd can hide out in the wide open was an eye opener.
