If you get a chance Hl649, it would be nice to see a updated pic of those two. They were two sharp looking mules the last time I saw them.

Yes they have grown quite a bit since these pictures. I'll see if I can find some recent pics.

There something about sandbars and mules, they are like magnets and steel.
If you see this they are getting ready for a roll.
Riding through some of the bad washouts last spring where the trail used to be.

Addition to the heard
Meet little Wade, he's out of a nice foundation bred Quarter Horse mare. Ole' Jim seems a bit concerned of the little fellow. Jim does not like change but he will come around and teach the youngster all the ropes. This little guy hopefully will make a nice mount for my wife. He's super gentle and willing and will come in the house with you if we would let him ! We also have a nice mare who is bred to a jack that will foal in June, so we are pretty excited about that.

After seeing all the great pictures of the backcountry it makes me wonder why anybody wants to go to those far off exotic places. There's so much here yet to see.

Thank you all for sharing your stories and Mule pictures here with us.
I am a big fan of Mules (Hinnies as well) along with all Equine species. Unfortunately I have no Mule(s) and as such; no images to share... Hopefully I shall be able to rectify that problem in the future.
This thread is a great one. Hopefully we shall see many more Mules here in the future! Not to mention all that beautiful scenery!

Wade is a well put together mule, Dog River. Those foundation quarter horse mares are what we like to cross with to. We like dual purpose mules...Wade looks like a good find...

Here's a picture of a little outing we had a few days ago. We got together with a friend who has a team of quarterhorses and played around for the day. Getting ready for the hills this summer. I've still got a few modifications and improvements to make on the wagon and some minor tweaking with the harness and team. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with this setup now.

They were about 1200 lbs. when I got them but they were quite thin. I would say they have fattened up to 1300 - 1400 lbs. over the winter. They went from a 18" collar to a 20" collar over the winter. They are probably the weight they will be staying at now. They came off an Amish farm in Iowa. They are broke extremely well and they know how to pull.

June 15ish. I am just really excited about it. The only thing I don't like about this mare is her white feet, but we are hoping the Jack will fix that problem.
We have another mule coming here in a month or so and I will be sure to post some pics. I really enjoy this thread.
I need to find a good vet that is familiar with working on mules if anyone knows a good one.

Do you know if her white socks come from the Tobiano Gene? If they do, there is a 50% chance that your mule will have white socks too (i.e., Tobiano is a recessive gene) and possibly a white spot on his butt. Either way I think it is going to be a nicely put together mule.

exciting for sure, hope the snow's quit by the middle of june. Jack might improve foot quality over the mares-seen a fair share of good white feet over the years. Fingers crossed & keep the pics coming-great thread :-)

He sire was a Palomino, Genuine 007. Not sure if the Tobiano gene is in there or not.
