Default .264 win mag, yall ever play with that sucker on the calculators?

So i'm sure many of you have plugged away in those online ballistics calculators to see what will throw what how far and hold certain velocities/energies to how far etc.

I played with the .264 win mag with 140 gr bergers at say 3200 fps and its amazing how far that thing will stay above 2000 fps......how bout 950 yrds at 4500' elevation and 1050 yrds at 7000' elevation! Haven't plugged anything in that 'recoil' bracket that comes close (7 rem mag and 168 bergers equals 100 yrds less for both elevations). And the lack of wind drift is equally outstanding.

Anyone else seeing the potential with this one for long range?

I'm so po'd i missed nekred's sendero for 900 bucks....brad you lucky sob!

I've been shooting 6.5 bullets in that velocity range for quite some time!

This rifle can getrdun all the way out to 1K, but I've only killed critters at 3/4 of that distance with it.
this one was shot at 372 yards on a steep uphill angle with a 140 grain Game King...

Yup, I just realized ,this one the 28" barrelled job before I had it rechambered to 6.5WSSM - it's now a 24" barrel.
The 30" barrelled rifle is on its way back from Manitoba as we speak!

Cat I recently got bit in the rear by the 6.5 bug. What are your favorite cartridges?

That is a VERY tough question!!
For most hunting, I use a 6.5X55, it is also in my favorite hunting rifle my O/U Fair express gun.
But for long range fun, I kinda like the 6.5WSM.
For pure accuracy however I really like the design of the 6.5X47 Lapua.
I haven't had a chance to shoot one however, so cannot comment excpet that most of my long range competition buddies are using it ( Their back up rfiels always seem to be 308's however!)
My son uses a 6.5X284, and I grab it if I am going where I am on a longer range stand .
My 6.5WSSM is also doing pretty well these days , so I may keep it a while longer.
I am about to get my 6.5/303IMP going again, and it is a fantastic, mild recoil cartridge.

Uh, NOPE!! Don't really have a favorite I guess, but if I could use only one it would likely be the 6.5X55, it's not the fastest, the coolest, or the biggest case, but it's like the 308 - it'll gertdun!
