Default 25-06 fans Help me pick

Okay... I've got 2 loads going for my 25-06 and I need help picking as I don't have a pile of experience with thi cal.

Load #1 is a 115gr Nosler balistic tip at 3095 fps avg
Load #2 is a 120gr Hornady interlock at 3016fps avg

Both loads shoot 1/2" at 100 yards and are consistent with MOA out to 300yards.

Which one????

I would pick the Hornady load, I'm not crazy about the bal tip as hunting round, some others may like them. A bud of mine shoots Btip in his 300 Win mag and I didn't feel that the bullet performed all that well with a large load of powder behind it. Most folks I know feel that the Hornady is a very under rated bullet, you experience may be different. FS

I have used the 25 06 for years, and in my opinion I think you might get better penetration with the 120 Hornady load.
On odd angled shots the ballistic tip may open up too soon and not penerate as deep as might be needed.
Another bullet to try might be the 115 Nosler partition.
Just my 2 cents

I have shot several deer with a 25-06 loaded with Sierra and Hornady 117 gn boattail spitzer bullets and they did the job for me. 115 gn Nosler Partitions will get better pentration like Rottie says. That is what I would use if you are going to hunt elk or moose.

I to feel the Hornady is an underrated bullet. When I first started hunting my load in a 270 was the 140 gr Hornady BTSP and to this day I have not seen more consistent quick kills on deer as I had with this combo. Serious Elk hunting took me to larger calibers and $50 a box bullets and while hunting elk I also took deer with those same expensive bullets.

This gun is strictly going to be for deer and I do not feel the need to crank out controlled expansion bullets at deer.

I have actually heard that the 120gr hornady is a really tough bullet but having no experience with either of these 2 choices I'm just not sure what to choose.

Thanks for the help.

I would go with the Hornady. Viewing wounds from deer shot, by my brother and friend, with the ballistic tip, I would not trust it. The Hornady does not have such an inconsistent reputation.

The Hornady Interlock has proven itself to me many times. Dependable as taxes. The ballistic tip has worked many times for many people, but it's also caused it's share of trouble as well. The Hornady load will serve you well. Good luck, Eric

Ditto on the Accubond.

Of the two listed, I'd go Hornady. Always had good luck with their products.
