500 yard group
Just got in from shootin, spent about an hour shooting 300yrds and decieded it was time for the 500yrd shots. between me and two friends I shot the best group with my savage at just over 1" without the flyer it would have been my personal best The guys that tested the rifle for Shooting times were able to shoot even better than that with a 500ryd group at 1/2" So im lookin preaty good. Ill also post some pics of my new reloading table, Ive finally got the room to where I want it. I love to reload its made shooting so much more fun. The group pic is the bottom one.

Nice shooting.
What is the rifle, caliber, and what optics are you using?
Can you provide a few pictures of the next few groups you shoot at 500?

Its a .308 with a leupy mark 4, 3.5-10x40 right now
the scope on it in the pick was a weaver I picked up with the rifle out of town in order to shoot for the weekend. I must say im impressed with weaver optics. I also just picked up a nikon scope for my remy 700 .308 but havent had a chance to get it to the range yet.

I picked up the bench at wallmart ($80) and swaped out the top cheap particle board with pine slab($25) from rona. I stained then clear coated the pine and screwed it down from the other side (theres pre holes in the frame already there). The bench is extreamly sturdy not even a wabble, there is also a bottom pice of particle that I keep other stuff on (added weight) to keep it rigid. Cheap and it works!

That sounds like an over simplification. It must have taken a lot of practice, a lot of time and ammunition to sight in your rifle and figure the trajectory of your load and such. Is the rifle you are using just dedicated to longrange shooting on the range. I would guess it would be. You would have to sight in another rifle (and practice some with field positions) to hunt with.
What gun range are you shooting at?

the rifle is strictly a bench gun its ridiculously heavy (30'' extra heavy barrel)and the trigger is set at 11oz pull. I shoot with a group of guys and we all work together honing our skills. A good friend of mine steve helps me out with my trajectoy and bullet drop, I dont own a chronograph or have the computer program, so the help is greatly appreaciated. Ive been using 43gr of varget, Lupa brass, CCI primers. My chamber measured out with a bullet jam= 2.196 I went -5 thou of the lands 2.191 which gave me a bullet OAL of 2.811 Its good steve had the tool to measure my chamber Its way off the standard load. My five shot VELOCITY= 2978
2969
2964
2965
2953
I shoot at the red deer fish&game range out to 200yrds twice a week, and me and four other guys hit up my buddys acreage on weekends for the long range stuff thats where the quad comes in handy (checking targets).
Im still new and consistency has been a major problem, when I get that under control and get some guts Ill enter a comp in the canadian F class.

Those are great velocities. I'm getting around 2700fps with 44.8gr of Varget out of my LTR (20inch barrel) with Speer 165grn BTSP as this years hunting load. Thats pretty much max for that rifle. Best group was around an inch at 200 yards. Still working on my target loads...never ending....

3016
3018
3018
3018
we couldent believe the closeness between shoots, but the group at 200yrds was haywire all over the place

Thats a great group, you must have no problem shooting 500+yrds. I hit a road block at about 600+ yards I find it so hard to calm myself down and just hold still, my scope veiw bounces all over the place enen with the butt end sunk in a bag.
