Received my BCL102
Well I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a BCL102. I ordered it in December and received it Thursday evening. I got 1 of the 21 Burnt Bronze models.
If you don't know a BCL102 is a AR-102 in 308 that is built in Canada and isn't restricted.
I added a vortex strike eagle 1-6x24, a vortex cantilever mount, Tyrant Designs for grip, Ozark Armament 45 degree chanted BUIS. BCL blast shield and an Ergo Deluxe grip, that fits poorly.
I got a MFT Battlelink minimalist stock but I got the wrong size, so I'll update that soon.
I want to put a new trigger in it but I'm going to wait until I have a couple 100 rounds through it.

I'm expecting mine to arrive any time now. Opted for the black version. I can't wait to set it up and give it a whirl.

Is everything as it should be or did BCL add their own unique twist?

Well I haven't owned an AR102 before so I can't tell if BCL added any "twists"
That said I am very impressed with the build quality, the machining is at least as good as MDT's machining.
Any of the complaints I've heard of aren't visible on mine.
Of my 12 mags, the factory and CPD mags drop out no problem, Pmag is a little sticky.
Mind you I'll know a little better after a few 100 rounds

Can you take an up close picture of the flutes on your barrel?
Mine looks like a 12 year old did the machining my hand.

That sucks - I will take a picture when mine arrives for you (and others) to see.
I can tell you, if mine looks like what you are describing, I'm packing it up and putting it up for sale as an unfired gun. Heck I can probably turn a profit since these are so hard to get .... lol .... but I have no interest in correcting a weapon with defects.
A defect this obvious is indicative of other things manufactured by BCL and I'm not interested in experiments.
I'm hoping this isn't the case anyways .... fingers crossed.

I noticed one is already for sale in the classifieds:

Doesn't list a price but I am curious as to why he's selling it.

The machining on mine was excellent. Some toolmarks visible on the bolt carrier, that's it. Considering a match ready restricted AR-10/DPMS 308 is in the $3500+ range I don't think you can beat it for price. Just don't expect half moa accuracy out of a stock BCL-102, it's not happening... At least they made it so you can easily upgrade parts, they could have made everything proprietary...

That's a lot of money for a rifle that has the accuracy of a old enfield open sighted at 100 yards, what is the attraction?

Hopefully someone gets .5" with these rigs....nice looking though.

been working with one for a while now best group was 2.75" but the average would hover around 4" found a few issues but am thinking the biggest one is the barrel is just crap. the flutes arent even close to being timed correctly. Gun has around 300 rounds out of it and the gas rings are destroyed. It is a pretty expensive receiver set at this point lol

Toss that bolt and get a JP high pressure with .062 firing pin! The stock barrel is junk they need a better barrel. I had full intentions of rebarrelling to 6.5 before I even placed my order last August

I too have a bronze bcl102 coming, was shipped yesterday. I hope my barrel isn't as rough as the one above. Gonna have to swap out a lot of BCL parts for proven AR10 parts. Probably gonna swap the barrel too.

I just received my BCL a few weeks back. Reading all the negative press about these rifles has me nervous now. First thing I noticed about my rifle is that its impossible to mount a sling to it. It has the QD mount in the stock but nothing in the rear... 1800 dollar gun and I have to spend more money to attach a sling... weak.
How is yours shooting now? do you still have it?

Aren’t most guys dumping their BCL 102’s to get the latest and greatest Stag 10 in 308 win or 6.5 cm

I was tempted to get on the 102 train when it came by....thankful now that I did not. Stag for the win.

There should be QD bosses in the stock, mine has one on the bottom and 1 on each side.

I know several owners, myself included, that are very happy with the machining and build quality of their BCLs. My fathers 5.56 Stag has a much more slop between the upper and lower and isn't as accurate as his BCL, all though we are comparing an AR10 to an AR15 and is just anecdotal.
You can convert a BCL 102 from 308 to 6.5 fairly easily.
Personally, I would rather have a Canadian made firearm any day, but I do understand the amount of bad press BCL has received.
I have several 100s of rounds through mine and I am still very happy with it.

New Canadian Made 102 Uppers
The guys at Black Leaf Industries in Edmonton are rolling out their own BL102 uppers soon. Just saw them on the weekend at the range and they are shooting less than an inch at 100 meters with theirs.
From what they said roughly the same price for better machined material and they come anodized as well.
Almost makes me want to buy one now!
