Smile New to the Forum / Dick and Jane!

Hi guys & gals, my wife and I just joined this forum and are looking to see where the good fishing is around south and central Alberta.

We highjacked another post so I thought we would start our own so we can keep track of your comments.

Looking for good areas around the Bow river. We live out by Cochrane and have fished the "dead dog leg" many times with very poor results (Cochrane to Ghost Res)......beautiful views mind you!! For a while there we did not care if we caught anything.....now we want to find some new spots.

Any good lakes around? I hear Pigeon is really good.....its a drive though.

nope. iv fished sylvan all over and caught tons of 2-3lbers all year with only 2-3 over 6lbs but 8-12lbs are very rare.

sylvan averages 50-150 walleye a day and big pike

welcome to the forum

Welcome aboard. Do you guys have a boat, or are you shore fishing? Upper and Lower Kananaskis are two of my favorite lakes. Not too far from you. If shore fishing Sibald meadows pond is a nice little pond but it gets crowded.

Welcome to the forum. I may be able to help you as I am originally from that part of the world. Depending on what you are after, there are lakes with pike and walleye in them. Size wise not that big. Some stocked trout ponds. Nothing too great ( about 6lbs). Not to knock the fishing back home because it has provided me with countless hours of angling enjoyment over the years. It is a long ways to travel and a lot of gas burnt when there is way better fishing ( Sylvan, Gull, Upper/Lower K to name a few) much closer to your home. If you ever head up that way. Send me a PM and I will gladly help you out.

Flyfisher Has it right....Provost shouldn't be your destination if you're looking for fishing. Goose hunting.....now, that's a different story!

Hi Mudslide, we have a boat....but we shore fish as well. Also been along the Bow trying to flyfish (not so well on that front!)....we have not made it to Kananaskis yet. How deep are the upper and lower lakes?

Welcome to AOF,,, but you must remember, this is your first thread, a pat on the back, by tomorrow it may turn into verbal mudslinging, and by next week you'll notice your spelling and grammar starting to slip, and by next month you won't find time to shave, and by hardwater season you'll be arguing the existentialist viewpoint of using a stringer for your fish as opposed a livewell. You'll also get really good at reading back posts and post just like you're having a conversation,, if you want to be tutored in this, just watch Tyreeum (the saskeknobite) and a few others. Oh, and FH7 types so fast that spellcheck doesn't work on his posts, ignore the flaws and absorb the info.

Cool, we love to ice fish!! We are originally from Manitoba....lots of ice fishing there!! We caught a few fish at the Ghost Res in the past. When the wind is not blowing its a nice place to fish. Where else do you ice fish in the area?
