Default Group Draw Question - Priority Selection

I have a question, not that it really matters, but an inquisitive mind.

I understand that in a group drawn, the person with the lowest priority is the deciding factor, but how are the group members with higher priority slotted?

Scenario:

A draw has a 10% chance of selection at P6 (lets say 10 tags will be available once P6 applicants are being selected).

One groups member is at P6, the other group members are at P10. Would the P10 members be "selected" in the earlier rounds and if the P6 member was not then they are removed, or do all group members have to be selected in the remaining 10 tags at P6?

I hope I explained that question clearly.

For the purpose of the draw, all group members have the same priority as the member with the lowest priority in the group. Everyone in the group draws, or nobody in the group draws.

I have never applied for a group draw, however, this is my understanding.

3 people apply for a group draw
person 1 9 priority points
person 2 6 priority points
person 3 2 priority points

the group goes into the draw with 2 priority points.

Group is drawn they get tags everyone's priority returns to 0 the following year.

Group is not drawn everyone's priority increases by 1 point for the following year.
Person 1 10 priority points
person 2 7 priority points
person 3 3 priority points

Hope that answers your question

I would vote the P2 or P3 member off the island.

What is the point of group draws? I am just wondering since I don’t really see one. Why not for a group apply individually and hunt exactly the same as they would with a group draw?

The only reason I see for doing it is if individuals have low priorities but enough for a chance to draw a tag and want to hunt together.

The reason we apply in groups, is that we like to hunt together as a group for some hunts. We used to travel 8-9 hours to hunt pronghorn, or Suffield elk, so we applied as a group, so if everyone was drawn, it was worthwhile making the trip. We wouldn't bother going that far for one animal, on a one species hunt. On hunts where multiple species were available, we would stagger our draws, and apply individual ly, so someone had a moose tag, and someone an antlered mule deer, and the rest of us would hunt whitetails or elk with over the counter tags.
