Default Opening day is coming on

Just finished fletching up a half dozen Beman 400s, switched from blazer 2" to
Fusion 3" this year. Should be ready to fly tomorrow for a test flight at target.

This Sat. is my opening day of bow for Deer and Turkey down here.

Got these pics from the cam this morning .. 1 of 2 bucks I saw back in June in
velvet just 1000' feet from the house.

The doe has 2 fawns and watches me shoot target behind the house, so
since she's kind on like a "pet" I will not take that deer this year.

Yea, I don't hesitate to put a doe in the freezer to have the meat and is an
ice braker but this one is simply just too used to me and my habits around the
house.

So I'm gonna let her walk, on the other hand there were 2 eight points that
I spooked about 10:30 am back in early June, just 2 mabey 300 feet behind
my pasture as I was walking...

So here it is Oct. I put out the trail cam to see if either of those 2 bucks were still around..

Momma doe comes by the cam just behind the barn/pasture at like 9:30 pm.

One of the 2 eight points comes by the cam around 11:45 pm.
The other buck either didn't get caught on cam or was not around.

Nice wide rack but with his ears fowled back I can't tell if he's as big as I think.

125 or 130 my best guess ?

He's got a nice wide rack but I've seen bucks with taller tines off the main
beam by about a 1/3 like 14 to 16" above the main beam and thicker at the
base.

Trust me, if I get a good shot he's going down, just trying to guess antler
size comps to others who measured.

P.S. as a side note, I'm not using feeders or doe in heat or doe pee or
hunting a fenced in area.

Simply looking out my back door, and hoping I have a chance.
The trail cam is an advantage but.. it also shows that buck don't come
around until after 11::30 pm and I cant leaglly shoot or even see in the
dark so I guess the trail cam is not so much an advantage for me.

What the cam told me was yes a buck is still around, and yes I do have
to figure out where he comes from 6 hours before.

The cam told me that.

This is what we call "hunting".

I love it, the preperation, the anticipation and the follow through as best
you can.

Every year we try to make it better than last year, the cycle goes on.

Someone posted about getting tired, I read the post.

In your life sometimes you need to take a break, it's a good balance of
most important in your life at the time. It's natural.

Things like hunting and fishing will always come back to you, even if you
give it a break.

They are as concrete or fundamental as anything you will ever experience
in your lifetime.

Hunting and fishing, like being rocked in your mamma's arms, in a rocking
chair.. Will never go away.

Sometimes you need to give it break then..

Get back to the home place.

That's where I found myself.

UME aint that the truth.

Back when we were all kids, didn't we do the same. :-)

I still remember and understand where their coming from and trying to
get to.

The majick of the hunt, the intrege of the game is to learn how they think.

You can spend your lifetime trying to figure it out, somehow without
reason everything just simply changes and the game is over.

Just like that, leaving you only with questions and doulbts.

Sometimes for seemingly no reason it all works out and the only thing
your left with is to thank GOD, becuase you don't have the answer as to why.

Sometimes it goes either way.

More so as a bow hunter you have to be willing to realize this is the way
it is, and make the best of it as best you can.
