Default Hunting poem

Anyone ever write any poetry about hunting? Figured I’d share one with you. Feel free to add your own if you write.

HOME

The wonders of nature and the beauty it beholds. Is as old as creation and stories forever told.
The sound of the wind as it floats through the trees. Makes me long for the gift of a cool autumn breeze.
Watching the creatures as they thrive in their home. The one place I’m free from burdens to roam.
I sit and I watch from the ridge to the sky. With beauty like this I shall silently cry.
Try as I may to not shed a tear. Some things are too beautiful so I hold them dear.
Sitting right here the night world stirs. And I say hello to feathers and fur.
No fear is to be had in this great place. as I am also a part of this wondrous space.
I load up my pack and through the trees I will comb. To my canvas tent in the woods where I am HOME.

That is great - totally relate.

Glad to know I am not the only one with watery eyes in the mountains.

You capture it well.

Here’s another one for you guys

The Chase

The winter wind blows through the trees and as I follow his tracks I’ve never felt so free.
This primal game of cat and mouse can only be played in this creatures house.
As I see some movement far to my right. I know by the time its done we’ll be into night.
I am a wolf in this world where there is predator and prey. I feel so much my words cannot say.
I shoulder my rifle and the forest silence is shattered. I do not revel in this this animal mattered.
I feel remorse for the deed that was done. Please know this creatures life was not taken for fun.
I’ve been blessed with this animal and I send off his soul. feeling remorse as it tears it’s own little hole.
I am the wolf there’s nothing more to say because in this world there’s only predators or prey.

Default Time to think

Cant sleep to excited for the morning hunt and all its glory.

Another day we will never forget to sit by the camp fire to tell another hunting story.

Up before the sun, the 30 minute walk to make it to our stand.

Anticipation to see that buck on the trail cam, would this not be grand?

The sun begins to hit our face and we realize why we do this.

I see my buck on the trail, dear God I pray I dont miss.

I think of the people I love and the ones I have lost.

Than I think of the soldiers who allow me to be hear, my gosh what a cost.

I treasure the local coffee talk and all the big bucks taken.

Some of them brag and were greatly mistaken.

My children now have taken over.

I hope their days are great and just go slower

My days may be numbered and on the brink

But being up early and sitting in my stand always gives me time to think,
