Default Trailer size.

Im looking at utility trailers with intentions of buying a quad in the future. Would appreciate some advice on size. I only have a tow rating of 2500 lbs so am looking at a 4x8 vs 5x8. 4x8 seems a little tight for quad/game, extra gear... Your suggestions?

4X8 is a little tight for quad and game, jerry can etc. The trailers are built quite light now and you won't have an issue pulling a 5X8. The extra room is nice to drag your deer along side the quad while it's in the trailer. Look for one with a drop ramp on the back so you don't need ramps to load and unload the quad. It also will save you having to load ramps into the trailer (more space used up), and you don't have to worry about them being stollen while you're away from the truck.

Figure out the size of quad and the weight. The dimensions will determine the width of trailer that you will need. Add the weight of the trailer & quad and see if this fits with what you can tow. If you could tow more I'd look at a tandem axle... they trail better and allow you to cart around more things. I'd agree the wider trailer is better.

We have an enclosed 5x8 and it is really tight for a quad, I would suggest a 5x10 atleast but even better would be a 8x10.

If you have the room and can afford it, go bigger then what you think you need. Nice to have extra room for other stuff like gas cans etc. Check out alum trailers as well seeing as you have a low tow rating.
