Van 2010 volunteer needs some help

My brother has been given the chance to volunteer for the Olympics.
Once in a lifetime chance to help out a world class event.
He will be choffeuring athletes around and they are asking him for 16 hr days.
He lives in the NWT and has booked 2 weeks vacation from his job.
He will also pay for his flight to & from Vancouver.
Problem is his accomodations. Everyone with a room seems to be out to make a buck. He has ads out and some folks don't seem to understand that he is a volunteer. One lady repled and wanted $9800 for a room for the 2 weeks.
I told him to revise his ad and clairify things.

Does anyone have family or friends in the Van / Whistler area that may have a room for a volunteer ?
Any help appreciated.
