Default Old deer that I have known

You may have known some too.
The first one a spike had a bigger body than I did at the time, dressed out
at 125lb. I was telling my brother at the time the only way to judge a WT by
the the size/age was by the length of the the tail.
In the second pic. was a 7 pointer I shot at about 7 or 8 yards in the corner
of a cornfield, strong wind at the time, only deer I ever shot from stalking on
the ground. 3rd pic is a 7 pointer I hunted for 3 years to get a shot, finally it
all came together on a frosty January morning early, a long time coming.
4th pic is the six pointer I shot broadside in early Oct that year. double lung and
a pass thru at 12 yards or so, was a stiff wind blowing, that buck looked behind
him after the shot, then put his head back down and continuied to browse.
He walked and browsed about 40 yards then swayed then dropped. Right there.

Every deer tells a storey, each of these have their own.

For all my life I will not forget them, and for everyday after I remember them all.

Great post. Reminds me of similar deer I have taken, and many wily Whitetails that gave me the slip and got away.

I love the photos from yesteryear. There's something about them when the poses weren't so exaggerated, and the culture of hunting was way different than today. Terrific photos and great thread. Makes you think about the OPs point and remembering. Good stuff.

Very well said!!

Thanks to the OP for posting. It's raining so I think I'll dig out some old photo albums and go through them.

Your right about each has a memory that bonds us to them. I may forget this and that often but can recall every hunt that I took an animal, every second of it. And the pics help to re tell the story to the younger ones. Good thread.
