Looks like things are picking up a bit... or at least there may be more work than workers because of the knee jerk downsizing from a few years ago.
Check out the Atco Electric website as I see some new internal postings for entry level head office construction labourers. Good chance these positions may go external.

Thank you. I have my resume for them ready. Heading there tomorrow. They have an external post listed. How do you like working at ATCO Electric?

Update: Handed out all Cover letters, Resumes and References and so far it doesn't look very good. I have one more to send out on Monday but it has mostly been the following:

"Call this person somewhere in another province" Then I call and they have no idea what is going on
"Apply online"
"Call back tomorrow, in a few days or in 2 weeks"
"This person is in a meeting every time I call"
"Talk to the union"
1 company was "Not hiring"

I am not sure how to follow up or how persistent to be. I'd show up there everyday until I'm hired but I don't know how that would be perceived. Strange spot to be in.

Anyone have any ideas/thoughts?

Happy weekend

I can't edit my last post for some strange reason but I am going to rewrite the cover letter and go back in person to the places with the best chances. I am going to go at least twice a week if not three times until I am either hired or I have a restraining order put against me.

Other than a focused cover letter, resume, and references, is there anything else I can do to increase my chances?

Hey I'm looking at doing the same thing this year, I've read your posts - did you end up finding something?

Any advice for a guy? My background is 10 years in the military as an avionics tech, been surveying for the past 2.

Lineman sounds like a good fit, any insight is much appreciated.
