Another Rock Star falls to suicide
Just like Chris Cornell, the lead singer from Linkin Park, Chester Bennington has committed suicide.
What's happening????

no doubt. linkin park is a terrible band so no loss there, but what a coward to take the easy way out and leave behind a family.

He sang at Chris Cornells funeral. Guess whose birthday it would have been today as well??? RIP Chester. I have slung a lot of iron in the gym listening to Linkin Park's stuff and many a UFC fighter has walked out to the octagon with Linkin Park in the background. Most notably Lyota Machida...

Some prefer Dixie Chicks, some Linkin Park, other prefer something else. So to some it is a loss.
These dudes don't just wake up one day and think they have nothing better to do so they whack themselves. It's a tragic event. But I guess for some ignorance is a bliss. Keep on keeping on, the brave one.
Wasn't a true fan, personally, but did not mind hearing it on the radio once in a while.

There is a 0% of this not being the case.
Maybe if the doctors can be charged with homicide for the cocktail, or make psychological counselling mandatory in order to receive anti depressants, we would see less of these cases. Only when celebrities do this does it hit the headlines, but this is such a hidden, yet wide spread problem nowadays.

Correct! The issue is mental health and many people who hit rock bottom dont think they have any choice but to end it all. In their very narrow view of the world they are a burden to their family because of addiction and often believe (although not true) that the family will be better off without them. Sure some of them are rockstars and perhaps even millionaires but the fact remains they are someones family who looks up to them.
Chris Cornells wife did a very touching interview about how in his normal state (clean 10 years) he was such a great person and only when using did he fall into such a depressed state that he became this other person capable of ending it. The problem is growing and affects all walks of life. I wonder if the same people who berate a musician as "no loss" will feel differently if and when it strikes closer to home. Our society still has a stigma for appearing weak if you experience mental issues but it is as much a curable illness (depression) as any other disease. I was a big fan of Cornell and much less of Bennington but I have also lost a neighbor and a few co workers to depression. Not once with a human life will I dismiss them as "no loss".
It is always tragic whether musicians, neighbors or accountants. When we stop caring there really is no hope of change.

"What's happening?"
Really? It's called drug and alcohol abuse, not really a big mystery.

The depression must be pretty deep when you seemingly have everything... great career, fame, money, adoring fans, and still end it. Shows all of that can't beat mental illness. I feel the urge to judge, but I've never been down that hell hole.

How helpless it must feel when you seemingly have everything but cannot be well in your head for yourself and for your family. Desperation and exasperation. keyboard warriors that spew vile about how this is a cowardice act have absolutley no clue about mental illness.

Big issue among many people these days
We just hear about the high profile musicians more often because they are in the public eye. My son has been a touring musician with several bands and as his background is also a dietician and personal trainer he feels there are a multitude of issues besides the sex drugs and rock and roll long standing causes since the 1970's. He wrote a book in 2016 on "Musicians guide to survive the rock and roll lifestyle" and was really well received by agents producers and managers at the Canadian music Festival in Toronto in April 2017. Selling out all his available copies in just 2 days. He feels a lot of it is lifestyle changes including is stress, diet, lack of exercise as well as drugs and alcohol. The managers agents and producers want their artists to keep making music so were very encouraging with some even buying the books and handing them out to their artists or putting them on the tour bus. Now leading a horse to water you cant always make them drink from the fountain of healthy lifestyle but change has to happen over time. Dead by 27, 41 or even 60 from preventable lifestyle or mental health issues has to change in all walks of life from teenage suicides to rockstar millionaires.
