AMEN Bushleague!!!
WOW, what an epic hunt. I enjoyed reading every word of your adventure. I have always wondered about doing a canoe trip for any hunt and this has truly intrigued me.
You will enjoy many wonderful meals from the moose and I'm sure you will relive those memories every time you cook a moose steak...
Congrats and thank you for sharing your story and pics, these are why I am a member of this site.

Cheers,
SS

Great pictures and an even better story. Congrats on your bull! You're a beast for doing all that solo. Worked out well that you got him at first light rather than last!

What river ? I don't think you'll be revealing too much.

I know the guy! This is quite an exaggeration, especially the “great hunter” part, lol. He is flattered though.

I am glad you posted the story. Great write up and photos. And well done all around, man! I had zero doubt you would be successful.

To cover this distance in a canoe, even downstream, is pretty impressive given the wind we had those few days. It has been pretty quite since; the nature wanted to give that little bit of extra challenge it seems, lol.

To hear about the “keepers” was a bit disappointing because I thought the area was more or less immune from this type of thing. The good news is that a boat can only take you that far inland, lol.

Loved the “so I shot him” part! I am going to steal it when (or if) I write about my hunt

Also, the elk hunt write up from 4 years ago is pretty epic. I had read it a while back and was impressed with the story and the writing style.

Keep up doing what you are doing! You are a great addition to this forum and I am glad to have met you in person.

Cheers, mate!

LOL, those are my feelings exactly! However, to sum things up it sounds much more humbling... First I hunted smart, then I hunted hard... then I just got lucky.

Nice hunt ,great write up and hunting solo away from it all is the only way to go. Depending on your skills is what it's all about.

Walking 500 yards and waiting for some critter to pop it's head out is a very very boring hunt.

Don't know how I missed this when it first came up. Grand adventure, one of those things that when you get old, you can look back and say with pride, I did that. Congrats and thanks for sharing!

We have done this from jet boats deep camps & loved every minute and aspect of it.

Your hunt is sooo much better, great photos, great writing, great effort and great results in beautiful country. Congratulations.

Well written. Excellent pictures and Kudos to you for sharing your experience. This is the kind of story that more younger hunters need to read. Hunting solo humbly using muscle power is always more rewarding in many ways. The meat is always sweeter.

And you know why that moose was only a hundred yards from camp? Because when a student is ready a moose will appear.

I suggest you put your hunting stories with pictures on paper and you will compile enough stories over a decade or two to create a book of Grandpa's hunting stories for the future grand kids. Call the book "Living the Life".
