Hearing protection and shooting

I am lucky that I still have fairly good hearing. (though my wife says I don't listen to her, at least I think thats what she says) I often hear game coming before I see it. Part of the reason for that is I have most often used hearing protection when shooting at the range and operating power tools and noisy equipment.

There are a number of hearing protection devices today that one can wear and still hear normally or better, that react to sharp loud noise and muffle it. Anyone wear any of these while actually hunting waterfowl or any game?

I have a buddy who uses a set of plugs that have amplifiers , I think they are Walkers.
he likes them very much, as his hearing is going, but these offer protection during a shot blast.
Myself, I have worn protection most of my life when doing activities like shooting or working....

YEs to both. You can get earplugs that are relatively cheap that close the passage when the db gets to high.
