Default Out-googled

Maybe it's just me but don't you find that these days it is better to stay quiet during a conversation lest there be one person in the crowd that will haul out a phone and correct you on some minor point or other.

You'd better know your stuff or you will surely pointed to as a misinformed or uneducated dolt. I once had a fellow, acting as my proctor when I wrote the on-line Boater's Card exam on his desk top, correct one of my answers from information gleaned from his phone. Turned out to be one of the two I answered incorrectly.

Or when the thermometer in the window shows -35 but the phone says -37, do I stand corrected?

Free (to wonder)

Yup everyone is an expert without any knowledge. There is buddies I won’t talk certain topics with or out comes the phone to enlighten us.

Yup.

Facts are cheap in the age of the smart phone, but real knowledge still requires a foundation in experience.

Case in point, I knew a huge amount of "facts" about hunting going into my first season, but despite this I harvested bupkis.

It works the other way too. The interweb is just as full of crap as it is facts. I had a guy tell me all about chemtrails...………...pulled out his phone and said here is the proof. I reminded him that I spent 42 years in the air force and that I would know...……..he doubts me lol...…...I'm one of the conspirators.

Don’t think much has changed, people have been doing that for ever.
Now there is just a convenient way to access more information.
