3D target for new gun hunter?

Wifey decided she wants to hunt deer (for meat) on the family farm in saskabush. Hunter training done, draws in, she’s family sponsored so will get it. Working on setting up an inline muzzleloader as October works best schedule wise. She’s done some shooting, and generally does well on bulleye targets both from a rest and field positions. We’re gonna dedicate some serious practice time this summer. However I know from archery experience (and a lot of military studies back this up) that it’s better to learn to shoot at a target shaped like whatever you expect to shoot in the field.

Anyone ever made a 3D (or 2D I guess) deer target for a new hunter? I want her to get used to picking a spot on a brown deer, not relying on dots and colors as aim points. Thinking of tracing my archery target on plywood, with a replaceable cardboard vital section. Any better ideas?

Cardboard cutouts can be bought or made and will work

There's a decent 3D target in Ottawa...I think there's a few of them

Aim small, miss small, much like what you do in Archery pick a hair and aim for it. I am not a fan of three D targets, most tend to have the vitals in the wrong area. What I did with my wife was got her comfortable behind the rifle on small target dots then on to gophers. Once that was in the works, it was a lot of scouting and having her point out where she would drop the hammer on deer, elk etc. till she knew where the vitals were in real life terms. Must have worked, she has scored many kills and has never had to use a second round.

One thing to do would be to watch hunting shows and see the point of aim while the animal moves to different positions.
