Default Ice fishing safety

Hi all.

Just wanted to point out an interesting thing when it comes to holes in ice. We had a hole drilled on the lake in an area of thicker snow cover. The weight of the snow pushes down on the ice and when a hole is made in the ice the water comes up like a gusher to come back to equilibrium with water height. This water rushes up at 4 degrees and effectively melts the hole and enlarges it significant.

Please watch for this.

Also during periods of warmer and colder air temperatures...ice expands and contracts. This makes pressure ridges when expanding and gaps when contracting. Be very careful this time of year.
