Trouble is with this many other candidates running, the votes get split and Spendshi gets in again. We need one really good, well known candidate to go against him. I think Rugs should apply.

It costs a lot
Too much really to run for Mayor in a big city and there are no safe sinecures if you lose, unlike Federal or Provincial politics.
You also need name recognition and a solid base of workers to start with. Nenshi had students.
Unless he helps by doing something very dumb. I wouldn't count on that.

Purple city,
In an Orange province,
In a Red country.
With no end in sight.
We're doomed.

You make it sound like there are other mayors who are not tax and spend. Only one I ever heard of got addicted to crack and then passed away.

Because it costs money to run/improve a city. Pretty sure all mayors tax and spend.

Yes it does, and yes they do, but it's not the city's responsibility to be all things to all people. If you look at the budget and see how many different programs this city spends money on that really shouldn't be part of their mandate, you'll soon realize that if all they did was spend money on actually only running city business and making the necessary improvements, we'd actually be in pretty good shape.
