Well, I am impressed that a fellow that pushes a wheelbarrow for a living, and speaks 3 languages can spend 250k to keep a lawyer on retainer. I, and my "little fellow" are going to sleep. I suggest you do the same. See you in the morning.
By the way, in Alberta we pour concrete, not place it. And we normally plan it for a Friday, then treat the men to a beer afterwards.

Yeh, it's the chits when your vehicle or garage or home is broken into or even stolen, but the nanny state we live in pretty well cuts off your balls when it comes to self protection. Best plan is to lock it or lose it, and when you lose it, suck it up buttercup. Believe me I know.
It's all good in the hood.

That was the most fun I've had here in a while. I was wondering where the Sheriff was myself.
And incidently was talking to my brother in Calgary. He installed a camera put up a sign and with his motion lights he hasn't had any trouble in over a year. After getting hit several times and losing tools out of his welding truck.
It's not a political or fun answer. It just works .
And for the record grouse was right about Corralejo Anejo it's one of my favorites. I hear the Repasodo is good as well but I've never had it.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to find this Glory Hole in question

Here is a link that explains how making a citizens arrest and using force works in Canada...
It’s all great and fine to plan out what various types of weapons and gadget you can use to subdue or scare someone off... but it all has to fit within the laws we have. There is really no black and white answer as to how to deal with these situations if you chose to rely on citizen power to detain or arrest someone as opposed to “observe and report”.
Property crime is infuriating and the fact that our laws do not necessarily swing towards the good-guys being able to defend property is frustrating. But you take on significant risk by taking matters into your own hands.

Good lord man. You raised a 2 year dead thread for that? What were you searching on an outdoors forum for that?

I use a motion sensor light without light coming on when there is activity. Put screw in plug in light base...plug in 12 V DC adaptor and hook up a 12V back up alarm. All neighbors within earshot are made aware of activity in the alley. No one hangs around long in our alley and they tell their buddies. Had to turn down sensitivity so wildlife didn't set it off...no more stolen gas or vandalism since.

Oh I forgot - Use a crossbow. Put one in him and go back to bed. Make sure to leave a couple of arrows laying in your vehicle, shed, garage, etc. When the cops eventually show up just say the dirtbag must have fell on the arrow when he broke in.
Easy peasy.

^^^ This..
It shoots a narrow stream about 20-25', they won't be going anywhere for a while after getting hit with that.

Doing some research it seems the wasp spray might be more of a myth than anything. The standoff distance and lower chance of getting fogged yourself does make one think that it would be desirable due to those factors. However the liability aspect if you blind the attacker is a pretty big downside, you all know that there are many, many lawyers who would take their case. If one stops to consider that various police agencies would be evaluating all manner of non-lethal defense tools and they've selected pepper spray, then there's generally going to be a number of reasons that it was selected.

The 25 or 30 lb fire extinguisher is the best.
If they can't see you, then every thing is good. Ha.
Let her rip, then retreat for round 2, 3, and 4 watching the blind sides.
Most knuckleheads don't make it to blast 2. Ha.
Make sure you find the straight flow medium width nozzle, that way you can launch the deterrent from a distance.
The small fire extinguishers don't cut it, go big or stay in the home.
