Probably because this Cons are trailing significantly in the polls and can't afford to be trailing on the wrong side of public opinion any longer. With Trudeau securing the tree hugger granola types last week and the Liberal-esque scandals bootlegging the Cons and them being a hawk is a bad way to secure re-election.

Time and time again failing prime ministers and presidents have sought salvation in misguided foreign exploits.

David Cameron was pretty eager to go to war. Britain's Parliament is now debating the issue and it looks like many of Cameron's own backbenchers won't support a war.

What's the rush to go to war?

Obama has the Israeli lobby and the military industrial complex that are yanking his puppet strings. I'm afraid these psychopaths will probably get their way.

Don't know if it's moreso supporting the troops or the war they are fighting in. Hard to support Canadian military action in Syria, especially if we're part of a coalition that ends up with egg on it's face.

What does it mean? "Support our troops" is usually code for support the decision to go to war. If you are against the war you are against the troops so are clearly unpatriotic. That's how it gets played.

by the way canada is not sending troops there will be no ground troops from any country going into syria...... and if the un report confirms that gas was used then i think all nations should respond with action against this inhuman attack upon civies....

Mmmm yeah, great idea.

It is suspected that a couple hundred civilians were killed in a possible gas attack.

It is not clear whether there was actually gas, what kind of agent it was, or who released it.

So, lets bomb the **** out of 50+ locations and escalate things.

And hey, don't worry, thousands, maybe 10's of thousands of civilians won't be killed in our quick and clean shock and awe.

The action that is being suggested in Syria has absolutely nothing to do with "protecting civilians".

Anyone who thinks otherwise is pro-military and anti-critical thought.

What a crock./

What a world we live in.

Supporting the military unconditionally has lead so some of the greatest horrors and human rights abuses history has known.

Give your head a shake!

Well considering I am ex-Navy ( read CDN Navy) I do not feel I am wrong in lending my support to our Armed Forces.

Whether they are assisting in domestic problems such as flooding (CGY 2013 for example) or if they get called to some far off place for whatever god awful reason I will be supportive.

The citizens of the United States need to revolt. Enough government miss representation. Enough attacks essentially on their own people. As Japan is dumping copious amounts of radiation, we re supposed to be worried about F in Syria. Nevermind one chemical attack in Syria what about the sh@t going on In their back yard. Does anyone actually believe anything the government says anymore? So what is their motivation? It sure as he'll isn't the Syrian people. Unless they are more important than Americans to the American government.

I think I see where you are coming from.

Support and empathy for those doing a difficult job is expected.

It is the same old tired call to arms.

Using the same old tired tricks of the trade.

There is a reason the US education system is a worthless pile.

Joke's on us.

Correct, the action being suggested is not to protect civilians.

The "Al Qaeda rebels" that the US and Israel support are currently getting their arses kicked rather badly by Hezbolah and Assad's monkeys.

I think you can be pro military but anti military/industrial complex.

Dwight D. Eisenhauer was, and he was probably the last great warrior president the US will ever have.

Seriously, if I hear about Al Qaeda anymore I might puke.

How brain dead are people?

Hezbullah ain't no joke. And this isn't just about Syria.

I like the bolded part.

DDE was genuine in his words.
