Default Garmin Etrex 20x vs. Oregon 600

I know it's hard to compare these two units but I'm looking for something that will track me accurately enough to be able to follow my trail back if I end up in the deep stuff. Is the Etrex 'good enough' for use in the northern half of the province? Or should I spend the extra 200 for the Oregon?

the etrex 20 has the toggle button that sticks up past the face ... put it in your pocket or disturb that and it will be a problem ... I am looking for a replacement for it ....

I have had the Garmin Etrex 20 for 2 years, I do love it and never had a problem with the toggle at all ever. Got me out of heavy bush many times where I wanted to take shortcuts or get to cut lines. Great for marking locations and getting back (ie: where you vehicle is parked or game was dropped). The difference between the two is the Oregon is touch screen, as opposed to a toggle. My son has the Oregon, Both are equally easy to use. I didn't want to spend the extra bucks for the touch. Quite happy with the Etrex. With both you can plan routes beforehand and back up where you've been.

I still carry a compass standard and a set of extra new batteries. Although I never use the compass any more. the Etrex is too much fun.

I bought a etrex legend, it felt sturdier to me. The Oregon is nice I was just worried that it wouldn't be as rugged.
