Default US Amphibious Assault Ship Ablaze in port

The USS Bonhomme Richard is on fire pretty good in San Diego, don't tell the Liberals or they'll buy it!!

I'd really like it if Canada had two vessels in this type of class (one on each coast), but not if the Liberals are in on the procurement.

Don't give Trudeau any ideas, he sees that he'll want to burn our Navy too.

You do know that navel construction is only reserved for some reason, to the Irving Ship Yards in Quebec, right?

You did notice that, I am sure. But if you had not, you would realize that defence procurement is about jobs in Quebec.

FOR INSTANCE our military paid about $120,000 for EACH COPY of the Mercedes ILTIS which was built by BOMBARDIER, when we could have bought the MERCEDES built one for $23,000.

But hey, I am just a tax payer.

I read somewhere they recently paid $32,000 per rifle from Colt Canada...

Sorry, Halifax, along with Irving Oil, that imports all that Saudi oil.

It seems to take on average 22-25 years to procure new equipment for our Canadian military. And then once a decision is made, someone with an IQ even lower than that of current PM will send it on for further evaluation by some godforsaken committee where it will sit in limbo for another 17-20 years.

I saw that they were having a hard time controlling the burning ship too. I imagine the ship itself must become a threat if it was heavily armed and on fire.

Give J Trudeau some credit. He did commission a Norwegian ice breaker to keep the Rideau Canal opened for boats in winter.

Ordnance was removed for the extensive repair work, and it would appear that was a darned good thing!

Poor housekeeping during repairs could be the cause of the fire

The area where the fire started, which was the lower vehicle storage area, was filled with cardboard, rags, drywall, and other combustible material.

I was wondering why a ship made mostly of noncombustible materials could burn. It's a good thing the fire didn't reach the 1M gallons of fuel aboard, I toured the USS Midway in San Diego I would say more than half the ship is fuel tank.

Somebody got careless with a torch. The usual cause of this kind of fire.
