Many moons ago
I got hitched...
As it happened in the summer we had more options. Shot 9 holes in the morning, a BBQ on nearby lakeshore and then paintballs in the PM. Sporting clays would work as well but have to watch the refreshments at the BBQ.
All in all it's about doing something fun with friends and since there is a broad spectrum of abilities given the age range, you need to pick things everyone will enjoy.
If time allowed might be an idea to do the reverse with a campout between...set up the tents in the morning, shoot golf in the PM then bonfire/camp with golf in the AM following...low key enough for everyone and still the opportunity to get silly as required.
Focus on the preferences/abilities of the guests, if they have a good time you will as well.

Only if you’re getting paid.

I too had my bachelor party near Drayton Valley, as we were living there at the time. It was also multi-generational and I wanted somewhat low key, so we ended up renting out the Log Chalet at the Pembina Nordic Ski club. This was back in '96 so not sure if you can still rent it out but it worked really well. We golfed in the morning then headed to the Chalet, built a fire and hung out in the afternoon/evening, and BBQ'ed. And those that wanted to (or needed to) crashed overnight in the Chalet.
We also hiked down the hill to the NS river and did some fishing.
All-in-all, it turned out to be a great choice.

You're not allowed to shoot back! It's a training treatment for what's coming for the rest of your life! (Or at least the rest of your married life)

Did paintball too. Had a blast, but Airsoft seems to be the big deal now. Less painfull and more fun.
I like the idea of the houseboat trip, but how about a river boat trip? Rent a jet boat up the NS river?

After working security at a few weddings I can say paintball is a bad idea if the wedding or wedding photos are being taken before the bruises have a chance to disappear! I'm pretty sure one marriage ended within 24 hours because the groom was covered in bruises on his wedding day.

I don't think paintball means what you thought it meant.

A VRKADE opened up in the NE on 32nd ave in calgary. It is pretty fun, there is also a locked room, axe throwing a few other little activities in the same area. Multi event days are fun.

Depending on how much effort you want to put in and what time of year you're thinking of doing it.
- Form teams of 4.
- Pick a starting town and an ending town.
- Each team has gets a budget of $500 (if each guy pitches in $125) to buy a used car/truck/junker and modify it (Sawzall a sunroof, paint, etc...).
- Everyone meets at the starting point with their vehicles/team and then races to the ending town with the rule being that you can't use any paved roads (ideally an overnight camp away)
Great bonding experience when the things inevitably breakdown and you've got to MacGyver it back together with minimal supplies!
Sell the cars after or donate them for a few bucks: either put that towards some fun juice for the wedding or divvy it back up between the team to lower the costs.

Have a sausage party.
No not that kind.
Get a buddy to offer up the garage space-Contract a Sausage Meister to come out and teach the whole group to twist up some great sausages and jerky.
Have a bonfire guys night afterwards and feast on everything you just made.
Will entertain both young and old alike. Guests each pick a sausage variety to make.
Prize for the best overall sausage.
Prize for best sausage roasting technique
Prizes for both largest and smallest sausage.
