Default Rabbits in my garden

Hello hunters.
I have a rabbit eating my garden. I need to get rid of it.
I set out my live trap with some carrots. No luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what sort of bait may work.

Thanks

I would just put up a fence, they likely won't go for the trap they go for the garden.

You can try other baits - Here's a helpful link.

One trick we used in the old country is using a length of pipe, place it on a regularly-used trail, preferably where they have to go through a narrow opening, like under a fence etc. One end of the pipe has a much smaller opening (or seal it with mesh). The rabbit can squeeze in, but not back out.

Are you sure that the rabbit is only one? I would just let my dog be in the garden around the clock. Or shoot the rabbit.

Try the carrot tops or alfalfa. Rabbits dont prefer carrots much

Snare it. Then BBQ.

Maybe try a deal with someone on the trappers forum to snare it? Or get a pellet gun.

I have live trapped lots of bunnies.

I always baited with a slice of apple. The red delicious worked best, the scent is strong.

I used to have the same problem then an older neighbor of mine told me to plant a clover patch nearby. Worked like a charm, the rabbits would spend all day sitting in the clover and left the garden alone.
Usually I found if you shoot them or trap them it would just be replaced by a new rabbit, more than I preferred to eat.

Are you sure its a Rabbit? I thought the same thing a month ago, my beet and pea leaves were getting destroyed and I thought I had a rabbit doing all the damage. Finally about 10 days ago, the wife saw a skunk sneaking around the backyard around 11pm. Went and bought a live trap, have caught 4 skunks in the last week.

If you have a game camera, might not hurt to throw it out and confirm what you actually have around there.
