Default Nosler partition or E-Tip

I’ve always hand loaded Nosler accubonds for my 300 win mag but I want to try something different this year. Would you suggest a Nosler partition or a Nosler E-tip? I will be hunting deer to moose. Moderate shots to 350 yards.

My understanding is the accubond is a slightly better ballistic partition. Terminal performance is similar. My rifles all need shorter bullets so i use partitions. Give the federal trophy tips a try they offer excellent perfformance as well. Hornady interbond if you can find them worked well in the last 300win i owned. My current 300win likes 165gr bullets. I personally like partitions for a hunting bullet. Very forgiving bullet wide range of impact velocities

Your rifle will decide what it likes to group well....providing you do your part....

I wouldn’t sweat it either way. All three are good choices.

I've always had good luck with Partitions for hunting,

maybe look at the Hornady ELD-X seems to be a very accurate bullet in most everything I've shot it out of, haven't killed anything yet but sure is accurate.

But as 58thecat says usually your rifle will favour one bullet over another, funny Ive had three 7mm-08s built with Benchmark #1 contour barrels, 2 of them loved 140gr Accubonds, the 3rd one wouldn't shoot them but loved 140gr GMX ?

Partitions' are a cup and core design where as the Etip is a lead free solid. Your decision. Both are excellent choices.

Actually the Partition isn’t a cup core design.
It’s actually a dual core, partitioned jacket, et al H mantel.

I have tried E-tips and they can be extremely accurate. Velocity is usually a little less than other designs . However I can't comment on game performance as I have not taken any game with that bullet

The accubond is a good bullet. I really like the 215 Berger out of my 300 Win Mag. Terminal performance has been amazing. But for your max distance of 350 yds I’d stay with the accubond. If you do try the 215 Berger use H1000 and Fed GM215 Match.

Of the two options, I vote partition! But then I’m partial to sticking with what is known to work

Default Bullet type Big game hunting

The moose easy to kill, will drop like a rag doll when hit in the lungs with any high performance Nosler bullet---The choice now is simple, which one is the most accurate in your gun--spend some range time and you can make your own decision---One thing for sure---meat in the freezer.

I think that Nosler E-tip is like Barnes X bullet as surface that is in contact with rifling does not have grooves or driving bands to reduce pressure and fouling ( this was why Barnes dropped X bullet in favor of TSX and TTSX)

Check performance of 150 gr TTSX out of 300WSM on Goat by following link below. Bullet hit is at 1:02...1:12
TTSX for all my hunting.

I shoot 168 gr e tips in one of my 308s. 2580 fps have killed 1 cow moose@120yds 1shot( heart), 1 bull elk@420 yds 1 shot( neck) and about 6 w tail deer. Most broadside lung heart. 1 extreme raking angle away ( entered in front of hip exited front far shoulder. 1 straight on in the chest ( slight upward angle) found bullet in pelvic bone against the spine.

Have shot a few deer with the partition in a few cartridges from 30-30 -300wm everything I hit well died quick.

These days I have tended towards higher bc bullets so the partitions have been sitting on my shelf for a few years.

Incidentally I use 150 gr Accubonds in my other 308 and 180s in one of my 300wm. All three bullets perform as designed

If I had to pick just one likely the Accubonds would get the nod simply because they are easier to find, and are decently priced for a " premium" bullet and give decent bc value and expand reliably and penetrate well across the board
