Default Rifle Calibre Conversion

There are many AO members on here with more gun smithing knowledge than I have. I’m interested in making a calibre change to one of my rifles and would like to know if it is doable by a qualified gunsmith. I have an over the counter Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather Stainless Steel synthetic stock in 300 Win Mag. I’d like to turn it into a 270 Win. Here are my questions:

1) Is this possible to do by changing the barrel and having the headspace
adjusted?
2) Would the bolt or action require any other work done?
3) Do both of these calibres use the same action length?
4) Is this even doable?

If you have the knowledge, please chime in.

Thanks

The 300winmag uses a different boltface than the 270win, so you would need a new bolt as well.

Yeah, not a really good project as far as economy goes for sure.
The cost could likely be twice the price of a used rifle in the same cartridge when it was done.

You could rebarrel to a smaller magnum such as a 257 or 270 Weatherby Magnum, or a 264 Win Mag. Barring that, trade it or sell it and get a chambering to your liking.

If you are wanting 270 win performance, then maybe a 6.8 Western would fit the bill

The cheapest route, by far - sell the gun that you have, buy the gun that you want.

No. It’s not an option using the bolt you have. The diameter of the bolt face is larger for the magnum over the 270
