524 used to be quite productive, however, in recent years subsistence hunters have pounded it hard, camps at many of the borrow pits(read garbage pits) along the roads. A lot of night traffic, cows & calves shot, and if not dropped on the road, they are left for the scavengers. Apparently the past few winters have been hard on the moose population with deep snow, ticks and a lot of wolves.

sub hunters is right. They take all they can and more. I don't believe there is a need to allow this type of hunting anymore

If that's true, it's a GD disgrace. Even when hunting was the only way of subsisting, I doubt it happened like that in any period in time. Subsistence rights do not give anyone the right to do those kinds of things. What a disgrace.

Anyways, sorry OP. I don't have a clue about 524.

I talked to the biologist in Peace River about 525 just to the south of 524, he said 525 got hit really hard last winter and had a lot of die off.

The area of the Chinchaga usually maintains a pretty good population of moose. 524 historically was a great spot, but winter kill and year round culling by non licensed hunters has put a dent in the populations.

If you spend the time hunting it, and staying overnight in your tent, you should get your moose.
