Question Eye Relief Question

I found out the hard way that the eye relief I have set on my scope is not that great for some hunting positions. I missed a deer yesterday because I had to strain to get full feild of view in my scope. Too much relief.
My question is if I now change the eye relief will I have to zero in the scope again?
Thanks in advance.

By changing your eye relief I take it you mean you will be repositioning the scope so your head is in a different position on the stock? Because the eye relief of a scope is what it is.

Yes, if you mess mith any part of your set up you should re confirm your zero by shooting it on paper.

yes is the simple answer...but remember to adjust the eye relief with the cloths you will use when hunting...I tend to put my scope a little to far forward..1/4 inch or so so I have to suck the rifle into my shoulder for hunting but that is only what works for me.

AND yes you will have to sight in your rifle

Thanks Shooter, very good point about the clothes.
Now can I adjust the eye relief to the rear by moving the rings back in the bases or the scope back in the rings, or both?

Move the rings back and/or move the scope.

It helps to have things loosened slightly, then have a friend help move things while you've shouldered the rifle in your favourite field position. When you have a full field of view without having to creep up or down the stock, mark the spot then snug that thing down making sure the reticle is level.

Remember to take recoil into account, esp. on steep uphill shots.
