Anyone ever hunt it? My fiancé and I just bought a house on 20 acres and we don't take possession until Aug 28th. Supposedly a bunch of deer around the property we also have a beaver pond that should be a hoot to trap and shoot.
Are the deer populations pretty good (Redwater)
Just curious. I'll be out running around looking the property over when we get it. Find my tree stand locations. I'm quite excited. No neighbours for ever. lol.
Anyway was just curious about the deer population..

Deer numbers in that area are starting to come back from the very hard winters of the past. There are definitely some great whitetails in the area but permission will be your issue. Good luck and have fun.

Thank you. I'm hoping the 20 acres holds the big deer as they have a tonne of cover and that pond. I'm hoping to have a nice quiet rest of my life out there. Got two job offers in Edmonton and am leaving my job of 9 years in Airdrie to move. Seems it's the right time, the right woman and the right place.
She wants a couple horses, some chickens, and I want a dog. I have a line on a Bluetick coonhound outta Montana ready the end of November. This last month will be a killer, so much to do, so little time.
Thanks again,
Tullfan

good luck on your 20 acres, that's your best bet. permission is tough to get except on the heavily over used crown land in that area

I hunt that area.. lots of deer there. It's a CWD test zone so heads will need to be sent in for testing. I'll also be hunting my moose this coming season in 250

I think Tullfan should send us some pics of those big deer.
