Default Black Deer

Have you hunters ever seen a black deer with a white tail before?

The photo came from Michigan with this note--

"This black deer (Melanistic color phase), it's even more rare than an albino".

Is it real? Post your answers before opening the link.

A little more research and I found this....

A few years back I saw a albino white tail buck. It kinda through me off. I thought it might be livestock such as a goat. Then I saw the rack. As I started to take aim thats when it took off into the deep brush. It was pretty cool to see.

I've seen several albino deer in NS over the years, but never even considered the posibility of a black one. Are you sure it isn't half skunk?

Default Pics of Black and white WTD

Many years ago I saw both a black and a white WTD. The black whitetail was injured and in a veterinary hospital at Texas A&M University hospital. It had come from central Texas, as did the hunter-killed buck shown above. It recovered and was released to the wild.
The white WTD was in the Rachelwood Wildlife Preserve near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There were quite a few white deer there. Sorry for the white dot picture, but I had forgotten my telephoto lens on that day.

My first photo postings. Excuse any problems.
