Gehl's cheese sause, yummy.
There is still bubonic plague in existence, people get sick from it every year. Shower isn't likely going to stop it.

Most folks didn't survive very long. What do you think the average age was that people died at 400 years ago IF you made it out of childhood you were one of the lucky ones.

And that's why people are so easily offended these days back then only the strong survived.

True,
But still mankind thrived.
so if mankind was able to survive through all kinds of nasty stuff, we can survive the sweeping of a floor.

Can't believe I am arguing with grown ups the benefits of basic hygiene such as hand washing. My nieces and nephews picked up on the concept before they were 5.
Carry on.

Common sense? Clean water to drink and soap to wash in - or just a bar of soap with dirty water.

Go back through history. More people died from treatments than the disease itself.
Look at smallpox treatments, everything from rubbing the body down with mercury - which killed the doctors too. To locking smallpox sufferers in a hot room with a raging fire. Injecting parents blood - didn't matter the blood type, they didn't know about that - into sick kids, when they died, it was the disease that killed them.
Look at rabies - historically known as hydrophobia - fear of water. of course, couldn't drink - so lets tie them to a chair and dunk them in a river. how many drowned.
The list goes on and on.

Please help me understand. Are you trying to tell us, in all seriousness, that you believe throughout history treatments have killed more people than the diseases have?

Not quite, but there were quite a high number from experimental and insane treatments... When people get desperate, they will try anything. - up to and including religious killings of the jewish. History gets really strange.

Maybe my reading comprehension isn't the problem. You should be more careful with your language because it's literally what you wrote:

Maybe I should tag with [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] from now on eh?
300 million died from smallpox... Some 80 million died from plague The list goes on and on. Do I really need to tag it as sarcasm?

I can't even fathom the point you were trying to make in the first place let alone how sarcasm adds anything in context.
And this from an anti-vaxxer who's trying to convince us in this thread that basic cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation is overkill and stay home because the world is a dirty place.

And yet we have made it to the 21st Century and have 7 billion people.
Granted a large amount came from 1900 to now, and medical science has improved greatly,
And given that mankind as a whole has had to deal with worse conditions than most in the 1st world will ever see
and given 2/3 of the world probably doesn't have the hygiene standards that the first world has,
it seems funny to complain about a layer of dust on a plate.

At A&W the other day, took the troops out, my treat, standing in line waiting for the tray of mystery meat wrapped in a bun or something like that when a French fry made its escape, bounced off the counter, hit the floor, in one sweep I scooped the bugger up and shoved it in my mouth, got a few looks, after the two chew swallow technique I barked "what? 5 second rule" a few laughs and I carried on...hope they swept the floor

Mankind can survive if 30% of the population drank bleach. That isn't a reason to drink bleach.
And that's just me disagreeing with your line of reasoning. I don't really care if someone sweeps the McDonalds while I'm there.

Do you think mankind will survive considering the good chunk of the population drinking the special koolaid nowadays?
