Don't waste time loading your 300 with 165s. Load 180 and up with RL 22, H1000 or Retumbo.. Have fun!

Right bullet for the task, that "you" like. I've started using 168g ttsx with a healthy dose of H4831. Two moose in the freezer so far, a shot a piece. 180's are likely still the standard, it monometal bullets let you drop down. A 200g partition is likely still one of the best if you want to shoot things that can eat you

165 grain Interlock Hornady over 4350 has killed a ton of game from Rabbits to large bears. Use a Winchester Mag or Federal 215 primer. The 300 mag is on the edge of what a CCI mag primer will light off reliably.

77 grains of imr 7828ssc under 180 grain accubonds work well in my tikka t3. 2950 ish fps and sub inch performance. Also 68.5 grains of H4350 under the 180 accubonds deliver similar performance (same rifle). Winchester brass, federal 215, and coal of 3.340. Work your way up but this is a deadly round for me!

I've had some luck with my 300wm in the last few weeks first pic is hornady 212 grain eld-x with h4350, second is scirocco 2 165 grain with IMR 4350 and third is scirocco 2 180 grain with h3831sc. Rifle is a sako a7 with a 26" 1-10 Lilja barrel and a bell and carlson stock. I may try something a bit lighter next, but I need to do some research on how light I can go and be stable.

Nice groups. The 1/10 barrel will stabilise down to a 130 no problem. Issue with twist is having enough for long/heavy bullets, I have never seen the issue be too much twist for short/light bullets. There really isn't such a thing as an over stabilised bullet.

current load is a 150gr ttsx over 74 gr imr 4350 @ 3510 and this one is a tack driver. i tend to stray from the heavier bullets these days as they hold together so well in a light grain even with major velocity.

Nothing for that bullet but I have been using 180gr Accubonds with RL-22 and Federal 215 primers since 2005. Been a great reload !!

I used h1000 with 200gr partitions. If I recall it was the max load on the list on the powder bottle. I found it more accurate than the 180 ballistic tips which I thought was interesting. I moved on to smaller non magnums.

RL-26 is proving real nice in the 300 WW 80grs over any 180 Accubond, 178 gr ELD-x etc, grouping real nice also shot this with 168 gr Barnes TTSX

Stout dose of IMR 4831 works well with any 180 in mine.

Sorry to hijack, but do primers really make a difference. I shoot CCI magnum primers. Is it worth trying others?

If you do not like the results of CCI, trying another primer wouldn't hurt. I seen a difference between Federal 215's and the Federal Gold Medal Match 215's in my 270WSM loads. I use the GMM 215's in the 270WSM and I use the 215's in my 300WM. Never tried the GMM's yet in my 300. Probably soon as I have a good supply of the GMM primers now.

The Gold Medal Match have a tighter QC/QA control in manufacturing is what I am lead to believe.

I used the 200 gr ELD-X with H1000 on my Moose last year. Super happy with the performance of the round. Mild load so it doesn't kick much.

I did exactly the same thing with that bullet. I try not to push my bullets too fast because I find that the best accuracy is around the mid to lower range when I'm reloading. And if you've got a 300WM you can slow them down and still have alot of energy.

Primers from various manufacturers have what's called a "brisance" value. Basically a rating of their ignition heat, somewhat like sparkplugs. You can google "primer brisance" and see results for yourself.

CCI are. The least hot of the mags. Winchester and Fed 215 are both far hotter. It can change your groups but thebiggest benefit the really hot primers is consistent ignition of large powder charges especially in real cold weather. Even in the fall theCCIs will fail to fire or click boom on some 85 grain plus loads.

I could not get my 300wm to shoot with fed215m primers. Switched to Rem 91/2 large rifle and the groups tightened right up. Same with my 7 LRM. I didnt think a primer could make that much difference on group size.

What kind of powder charge do you use? I have some 200gr and H1000 I would like to play with as well. Just looking for a place to start.

215 Berger with H1000 FED GM 215M. You have the case capacity with the 300 Win Mag. Why shoot a 160-180 gr class bullet? Might as well shoot a 30-06 then.

My mistake, I actually used H4831SC. I was using 67.0gr's and it is shooting somewhere around 2600fps. That's just a guess since I have never chronied it. It's a very accurate load. I've taken a moose, elk and black bear with it so far.
