Just out of curiosity, what were you expecting from Remington?
A 40 year warranty?

ANY rifle should be manufactured & held-to the same specs & standards as precision hand tools... Or better.

Good tools last a lifetime (Snap-on/Gray/etc), crappy Chinese tools not so long.

On a 9mm pistol that fired out of battery we found that the as the cartridge was feeding into the chamber the extractor came into contact with the primer and causes it to fire .

Do you remember if you pulled the trigger or did it go off as the action was closing ?

A well built rifle should function flawlessly for 60 or more years. Remington is know for quality and safety issues. They don't seem to accept any responsibility for their quality control

Well built things break .
Hard to know if the rifle wascabused or broken before the failure or any other issues .

I agree lost some space shuttles.

Glad the person was not hurt. We use to have to diagnose accidental discharges/ failures and there was almost always a combination of things that happened
