With a few more bucks you can get an Excalibur crossbow package at Cabela's
The Matrix Grizzly. $599

http://www.cabelas.ca/product/78025/...ossbow-package

I had one, it was nice a compact, fast and easy to shoot. The only reason I got rid of it is I have a perfectly good Excalibur Equinox.
Equinox is the one on the left, Grizzly right.

These Excaliburs are a simple recurve design. No wheels no cables. Can change a string in seconds. Best of all made in Canada!

Haha. Good. You'll be more than happy and more than adequate with what ever you persue.
Just one correction. In my pic it's the Equinox right (the big heavy tank of a superb Canadian made Xbow) and the Grizzly on the left with the white fletched arrows. 😉

Too bad this wasn't posted a week ago. Think it was Alflahery's had an Excal 350 LE on sale for 599$ supposed to be a great bow. So is the grizzly though.

They are nice, but loud. I've hunted with the matrix 350 and the mission mbx series. No complaints for either. I do like the mission sniper because it's so compact, much more than Excalibur. God that thing was awful to bush whack with, all cross bows are.

I filled the alloy frame of mine with spray expanding foam. It helps out a fair bit. I got the idea from Don Katsumi of "Boo Strings".
As well I installed some Limbsavers . You can't kill noise 100% but you can increase your chances of getting a successful shot that much more.
