Default What/where IS the latest population study on Bull trout?

Anyone fishing the east slopes probably has similar anecdotal accounts pointing to Lots of bullies.

I'm just wondering if any recent studies on population have been done...?

I assume the population is ok since the previous gov't allowed Hidden Creek to get trashed (major bullie spawn creek).

Default Bull trout recovery

Not sure about any new surveys but last season, my wife and I caught more bull trout than we had over the last 6 years combined. Nice thing is there were different age sizes from 6" to 19". We fish the oldman and pretty well all of its tributaries. Caught bulls in pretty well every creek. Usually on small streamers but did get a few on stimulators. Combined we landed 23 bulls last season, can't wait to see how 2016 plays out.

This is the present management plan. It talks about recent population statistics.

http://aep.alberta.ca/fish-wildlife/...gementPlan.pdf

Interesting note from the document:
Historically there were 128 sub populations and 51 core populations of bull trout. Presently there are only 117 populations and 48 core populations left.
