There are some similarities in how the Canadian and US governments are run too but we do not have a president or a congress or a senate. Despite similarities we do not have a US style of government.

Despite some similarities, we do not have Common Core curriculum in Canada.

We do have a math curriculum that was presented in a manner that encouraged teachers to use discovery methodology to deliver it. Nothing wrong with that but it should not be the only tool in the shed and non-math math teachers in general didn't get that. Mathy math teachers always used some form of discovery learning as a support to help the kids who had difficulty -- they knew that not everyone can learn math the same way as everyone else.

You want to see math scores improve across the country? Make sure all math is taught by people with a math background. That means a math and/or science degree or an education degree that specialized in math instruction. Most elementary educators don't need Math 30-1 to get into their programs and most (not all) really weren't great math students themselves yet we force them to teach a subject that is essentially it's own language.

You wouldn't have the proper pronunciation of words being taught by a person with a speech impediment yet we expect math to be taught by people who "can't math".
smear that pig all over with lipstick, but its still a pig skippy! why do you have such a hard time processing truth? pull your head out of your colon and come enjoy some fresh air!

English not your first language, or did you skip those lessons? The rest of us know that sentences start with a Captial letter. The rest of us know how to use an apostrophe when writing contractions. The rest of us know the difference between 'soul' and 'sole'.

All of that is only as a consequence of reading this post of yours. I'm sure many here could recommend some remedial education, but you would have to want to learn. Do you?

For sure this piece of work is someone who was recently banned. Been so many characters banned lately that it's hard to put a finger on who he really is. The only other possibility is that he has a few usernames to hedge his bets, which also seems pretty common lately. Oh well, he keeps us entertained.

Considering the bashing that is going on about education, and then not using proper sentence structure or grammar, is the height of hypocrisy. Most grade 3 students know better.

Being able to use EXACTLY PROPER sentence structure and grammer does not mean one is smarter, just means one has been better educated in English.

There are many people out there that can wax eloquently until the cows come home, but in practical life are dumb as a post.

Most are university educated too.

Default Grammar Police

I usually cut people slack with grammar on forums. Spell check, word suggestion, small phones, and fat fingers are a bad combo.

But, I agree it does seem kind of idiotic in this case.

In the test evaluation course, it was pointed out that ALL math teachers should be positive about the subject as children pick up the undertones very well. A show of hands for elementary teachers with math hate was very eye opening. Either we need dedicated math/science teachers from a young age or we need some way to get attitudes up in most cases.

Formerly known as the three Rs ... until people found out that writing and arithmetic do not start with an R.

The 3 R`s and science are very important if the child is encouraged to think for themselves and encouraged to self-teach by reading and studying and researching all topics. History and social studies is nothing but a sick joke. History is taught according to an agenda of the rulers and victors of a society.(columbus discovered america) :sHa_sarcastic lol: And the list is endless !
