Default Rangefinder placement

Where do you guys like to keep your range finder for easy access when spot and stalk hunting?

I've got mine attached to the shoulder strap on my binocular harness via a short elastic cord. This way it can be stowed in a chest pocket when not in use, can be easily used with minimal movement when needed, and I can simply let go of it after ranging w/o fear of dropping it. It also doesn't interfere with the bowstring during the shot.

I'm a lefty, so it's attached to the right-hand shoulder strap.

Right pant pocket. I shoot right so this way if needed before a shot I do not need to let go of my bow

I have an external breast pocket that I keep half zipped for quick and easy access.

On my bow where it does the most good. The pressure switch is on the front of my riser between the scales, a quick tap at full draw gives me my range. I also carry a Leica in my pocket so I can range stuff when planning a stalk.

For a lot of people that is not an option since it is not Pope and Young legal.

If that's an issue you wouldn't use it. I could care less about anything "book" as nothing I shoot will ever be entered. I've got B&C animals I've shot with a bow, never mind P&Y.

Obviously people do what suits their purpose. This works for me.

That's fantastic for you! Really! Just letting people who may be interested in entering an animal know that it's not accepted.

Why is this unacceptable to P&Y?

Cannot have bow mounted electronics, including sight lighs. The only exception is lighted nocks now.

I have mine in a pocket on the waist strap of my pack. I have a wrist strap on it so if I am ready to make the shot, i can let it g. It doesn't get in the way of the string or my release when its there.

I do mind. I don't post pictures of animals I've killed online, nor do I make a habit of reporting any type of success to anyone unless they ask me face to face. If you want to see what I've killed you would have to know me and be invited over for a beer. That part of me is why I have no interest in any record books.

The original topic was rangefinders, after 20+ years of bow hunting I've come to use and prefer a bow mounted rangefinder. Prior to the vendetta I kept my Leica around my neck. IMO the vendetta is worth the weight penalty, it's been an asset and has never failed me. If you hunt to get your name in print you probably have no use for one but I thought that went without saying.

Book or no book who cares....but those who don't know and may want to enter an animal would appreciate the heads up I would think.

I am another one with it attached to my packs shoulder strap. Cord attached to the top and I slip the rangefinder inside an elastic cord further down on the strap to keep it from bouncing around.
