Default Utikuma Lately?

Anybody been on Utikuma in the last couple days? I think I need one or two more ice fishing trips this winter to get me through the summer. I know that lake can get ice heaves this time of year so I'm curious if anybody has an ice report accessing from HWY 88.

If you go up before the weekend, please share an update!

The wife and kids are gone for 5 days starting Thursday, so I need to fill my time up with fishing, and another trip to Utik sounds perfect!

I know in years past we have fished up at Utik the last week of the season, and although the ice has always been good, the access has been really rutted and muddy.

This lake can be brutal for flood water and it's also known to claim a truck every now and then you'd better rely be careful drivin on that lake

We made it onto the Lake yesterday, the road in at KM 81 is getting rutted up. We took a snowmobile onto the lake which is a must if you want to go anywhere off the main trail. There was a couple trucks on the ice but they must've had good tires because there was a lot of water in some spots. Did see an ice heave off the North East corner of the big island. Sounds to me like the heavily fished areas that are/were truck accessible they are only catching small pike but the walleye bite at dawn and dusk. We got off the beaten path and found some good sized fish. Caught my personal best pike 19 lbs, 39 inches and a 6.5 lb walleye.

Nice catch. Pike looks skinny like the ones we caught last year. Keeper size but one good walleye had as much meat as three pike last year.

Vehicle access is pretty well finished and the fishing is ''slow'' at Utikima. Got onto Slave at rng rd 85 and the lake is good to drive on but muddy to get to the ice and the fishing is''SLOW''.
